P0453 Code after replacing EVAP purge valve

Post by BrianV70 »

Howdy!

A few weeks ago I replaced my evap purge valve with a new one. The P0446 code went away and has not returned. However, it has been replaced by a P0453. Other clues:

I have not replaced any vacuum hoses.

I have had occasional fueling problems - tank not venting and fuel spewing out of the filler neck. Then, can only add a trickle at a time. Both times it coincided with cold weather, and then fixed itself. (the first time, I blew out the filter on the filler neck with compressed airing it got better. Red herring?).

New gas cap.

2000 V70XC 126,000 miles.

Thanks everyone

Bump

P0446 is "evaporative emission system vent control circuit malfunction"

and to add that the code is intermittent. Comes and goes on its own.

I recall this is a symptom of blockage in pipes near the fuel filler on a late, "bastard" P80
