Re: XC90 2.5T, 3.2 or v8? Looking to buy
Being a DIYer, the B6324S 3.2 straight-six appears extremely attractive over B5254FS & B5244T3. I wonder why MVS maverick CN90 did not take on B6324S.

I agree the B6324S does look attractive if you're shy about turbos and don't need large towing capacity/heavy loads.

2013A XC90 with B6324S is a REALLY attractive purchase. PCV itself is simple and fun to work. No timing belt shenanigans.

Only worry on the "Short-six" is the READ-rear engine accessory drive. Looking at a large chunk if the drive for the alternator etc goes. And it may not be common, but it has not been unheard of. A friend just asked for info on his early V8 with Slow down or upshift warning (valve body?) I'd go for the 2.5T or a later V8.

1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Barring a valve body issue which may or may not also be a concern, can see this link for a more common reason this message comes up- specific to the V8- http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... -Triangle)

Thanks for that GG, he says transaxle performance is good, just cured a multi-cylinder misfire condition on new to him SUV. He will be relieved that he just needs to clean his throttle body and put his right foot on a diet!

I have a 2008 xc90 3.2 FWD. Been driving it for about six years (35kmi when bought, 120kmi now).
Upside: no timing belt. Downside: the serpentine belt is a PITA. The steering pump and water pump are on concentric shafts on either side of the pulley, so the steering pump has to come out to replace the belt. The V70 steering pumps are easy. The 3.2 xc90 steering pump has several bolts that are difficult to reach and not feasible with a torque wrench, so you'd better have a good feel for tightening. I had the pleasure of learning these details when replacing the water pump whose bearings crapped out at 90k (it appears to be the same ol' water pump that Volvo uses on the 2.5 at al.)
There is also some funny business with the alternator drive which I have not had to learn about (yet).
Lower control arms: upside! you can pull and replace all the bolts without raising the engine!
Headlight design is easy to deal with.
