1998 s70 Speedometer swap

Will another 1998 speedo be a direct swap? [doing this in an attempt to gain mpg miles to empty computer functionality]
Is there a how to so I can quickly remove only screws needed, could not find one.
All video's I found are the remove whole dash due to squeaks.

Should be a direct swap as long as they're both 98's. The mileage will stay with the cluster though. So if you swap your mileage will be inaccurate. You have to remove the top dash pad in order to remove the cluster. There are several videos on how to do it.Robert has a really good one.

Isn't there also a compatibility issue regarding the trip computer on the 98? I upgraded my 98 V70 with a trip computer and I seem to recall I had to replace the speedo as well.

I was told trip was in speedo just different software load, and if I put in speedo and switch would be all good.

I saw roberts, but was unsure if speedo swap required entire dash removal

I know there are tutorials out there that show how to upgrade your existing cluster to have the trip etc... Just haven;t really looked at them. I do know though that the top dash pad definitely has to come off to get the cluster out.

The procedure is the same as what you would do to swap odometer gears on an 850 and I think the screws are, more or less, in the same place. That will get the cap loose and then you can release the bales that hold in the odometer and sneak it out.

I've swapped a few '98 clusters and yes, this is correct.

Did it, added 50 k miles to odometer, mlm no big deal. Works great.
Whole cover needs all screws out.
Forgot to check all bulbs

Now have to pull again, dumb ass.

Next project sort out e brake and replace brakes lines, just waiting for better weather
