The repair you already did to the fuel line looks fine to me. You used the correct type of clamps. The trick is to get the size of the barb connector just right. For extra insurance I would have probably used some sort of RTV rated for fuel under the assumption that I would never have any reason to take it apart. The repair you're going to do to the evap line should be fine with plastic vacuum type barb connectors and regular low pressure fuel line hose. You just need to make sure it's absolutely sealed up air tight.
