2005 V70NAM56 Console Parking brake rework

Thread to document rework of parking brake, starting with console removal.

Couple of tricks here on plastic removal.

Tools
Torx 20 bitfor console screws
Spudger for plastic
Pliers for shift lock ring

Console held in with four Torx screws
Two in front after you lift shift console plate
Two in rear compartment after the rubber mat is lifted

Shifter is released by pulling lock ring down, the popping shift handle up, cover and boot then slides over

Two side pieces on console are released by inserting a coin into the slot at th e rear end, then sliding the pieces forward to release.

One electrical disconnect at rear for 12 V output

Brake handle boot pops out , up and over

The brake adjust is a simple 10 mm hex bolt

I set the handle to 4 clicks, then tightened bolt to full brake action. On release, both wheels spun freely

Answer: new bleeder screws if they are more than 5 years old in salt climates,replace them with real Volvo ones.

Finished this job today by lifting console to reconnect rear 12VDC accessory plug
