I recently removed my head unit on my C30 to get the radio AM repaired. Prior to removing it everything worked fine (CD, and FM) except the AM (no sound and wouldn't lock on to a station) and no sound on the Sirius 1 or 2 but the display showed the Sirius XM preview screen as I don't have a subscription. After the repair the AM works perfectly but I no longer have the Sirius XM screen. It's just a blank screen. The repair company can't explain this and said the AM repair is an easy one and should not have affected other features of the radio. Is there a possibility that I may have to have the car hooked up to the dealer computer to re-install the SIrius XM?
Thanks
Do I need to reprogram my radio? Topic is solved
Initially I had a problem with the connector for the antenna. While cleaning the side glass I must have bumped the connector off at the top of the glass and it caused a lot of static and bad reception. After finding and fixing that It worked fine. A year or two later the problem returned only worse and I checked the connector and it was ok but the AM was completely dead. Apparently this is a common failure in these radios. I don't know if there is a repair shop where you are but there is a place called Xemodex (zee-mo-dex) in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada that does repairs to most electronic components for Volvo and other makes. They told me there was a corroded filter that they replaced. How it got corroded is not clear but the radio works perfectly now. The told me they fix components from all over the world.
