Help please - refresher on Odometer fix for 850

It has been too long since I started this project, and I cannot remember the gear orientation for the infamous 850 odometer gear (1994 NA 855, 225,500 mi).

Can you explain which way the 12 tooth gear for a Volvo 850 faces as it is installed?

Does the flat side go toward the other large white gear or does the "bushing " side go toward the other large white gear?

Also - the "main" odometer seems to change at either .15 Mi or .5 mi on the trip odometer, I opted for it to change at one tenth. Have I installed the large gear back out of rotational sync?

PS. While inside the dash, I mapped the polarity of most of the dash lights to install LEDs - I will post when complete, but this saves a ton of time so one can install the LED s once rather than trial and error. I will also show where I got the LEDs if it all works out.

Also - do remove the entire dash - I broke the plastic in front by not doing so.

I appreciate your help - I read the links you suggest prior to my posting.

Maybe you could help interpret the pictures, but from them I still cannot tell which way the replacement gear is facing. Should your eyes be better than mine, maybe you can tell.

I believe the orientation is displayed clearly here.
Hand wind the ododmeter to check that it changes correctly, if you need to re-orientate you can do so before closing everything up again.

Just remember do not zero trip while moving or you will be back to square one.
