Volvo 850, transmission code 313

Post by Machist »

Hi,

I change fluid to my transmission and after that my transmission goes limb mode (flashing arrow)
Fault code was 313 Gear Position Sensor Signal Incorrect.

I replace PNP sensor (I use alignment tool) and now transmission goes limb mode in P and L position.
R,N,D,3 seems to work ok and I can drive normally (If I don't use P position)

I cannot clear codes if P or L is switched on.

TCU is also replaced

Also I measure connection between PNP and TCU

PNP

Image

P = 4
R = 2
N = 2+4
D = 3+2
3 = 3+2+4
L = 3

TCU

Image

Connector “A”
P = 6
R = 4
N = 4+6
D = 4+5
3 = 4+5+6
L = 5

Connector “B”
14 ………………………….. Gear Position Sensor -> show resistance all the time.

I cant help, but Ide like to remind people that if you drive in the limp mode you will burn up the clutches as its third gear. In the earlier cars the speed sensor malfunction would trigger limp mode (your speedometer would not be working) Since it started with the fluid change you would have to suspect one of the solenoid valves not closing despite flashing for the PNP. That may have corrected itself as they sometimes do, but now the PNP is off adjustment. Maby put the original back in exactly where it was as shown by corrosion around the hold down bolt and see what happens. another warning is not to fix more than one thing at a time on these cars as it makes diagnosis exponetially more varied.
