Cant fill my gas tank
'07 V70 140k miles. Pump shuts off while trying to fill the tank. While filling the tank took about 1 gallon then expelled a portion back out onto the ground. Put some absorbent down and tried a 2nd time. Same issue.

Re: Cant fill my gas tank
From what I remember, this is a blocked vent hose at the tank. This is for an C70 https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthrea ... -Tank-Vent

Re: Cant fill my gas tank
I have a 2004 V70 with the same problem. I've found that if I let the car sit for 15-20 minutes, then I can drive a short distance to the gas station and fill it. I poked around in the forum and I think there is a topic on this. IIRC, there is some sort of filter box for the evap system that sits near the tank or the rear axle. I think it may be responsible for this problem. I seem to recall, topping off the fuel tank can cause this thing to fail resulting in this problem. I thought I'd find a replacement at the scrap yard, but I'm not keen to be crawling under a car out there.Earthglyder wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:41 am '07 V70 140k miles. Re: Cant fill my gas tank
I believe the passive thing to do first is to drive the vehicle to get the fuel level down to 1/4 tank.
Under these conditions the EVAP system's purge cycle can have greater chance of clearing itself.
My brother helped me out whilst filling up before hitting the Interstate. He brimmed my tank while I was in the rest room.
The problem cured itself.

In my case it was a spider that has built his web/nest at the vent pipe's outlet. You can crawl under the rear bumper and check if the pipe is clear of obstruction.

Re: Cant fill my gas tank
I found a description of the problem on an S80 that has a photo looking up from the ground towards the filler neck. I took a peek under my 2004 V70 bumper and found that it has the same arrangement.

Here are other photos of the filler neck with the vent tube

Re: Cant fill my gas tank
For everyone's information:
The fitting pointing downward (which the spider homesteaded) has a barb fitting.
It was onto that fitting I shoved a foot of old garden hose so I could blow into it.
I was able to locate the hiss of the escaping air.
It was my bad J-hose.
I demand a medal for that one!
