It was more of a fender-boning but when the opposite corner of the car's panel margins double it might as well have been a T

Still life treats me well....this week I get to eat food from my next door neighbour's bin as they're away on holidays 8)

Retitled to document the engine swap

Life was harsh on this one, a masterful swap that ended up at the wreckers one month after completion

Brutal.

Hopefully someone who knows Port. Answered the cylinder head weight question and turbo line diagram ( I think ) above

Hi, I should have found the Matthews Forum a month earlier and it would have been less work at least. I have done the same swap as you have except that the 95 motor is also turbo and that along w/ the vvt on the exhaust cam adds up to after a month and a half of messing with it I register to a forum called Matthews and I read a reply to a question I submit and I find the reason why my car still runs like crap. I think I need a 95 cylinder head on the 95 block that is naturally aspirated which will come w/o vvt. If you would be so kind to reply, I would be ever so grateful and thanks so much for your write-up. Very inspirational. Thanks, so much. jjss70.

If both cars (donor and recipient) are turbo there is another issue; not the cylinder head. You need to stick with the 1999 head. Check compression readings and report back in.

I only have the one 1999 S70 AWD Turbo w/ its original 1999 engine which has a cracked block in 3 adjacent cylinders and I had a friend w/ a wrecked 1995 850 Turbo Wagon and so I bought the motor from him and the compression readings were good dry, all around 165 & 170 psi. I do still have the original engine and head which did run after I sealed up the blown head gasket. I must say that, even though oil was accumulating in the radiator and 3 cylinders had sleeves that were riddled w/ cracks and only running on 4 cylinders, it still ran so much better than it does now w/ the 1995 engine installed.

But... is it turbo or NA? And what do you mean it runs poor? Also, if you swap in the entire engine, why would you keep the ‘99 head?

Both engines are turbo and I took the 99 head into the machine shop to get pressure tested for cracks and I will get info Monday or Tuesday. Also, what name brand of head gasket and head bolts should I get aftermarket? Thanks to guys on the Matthews Forum, you've all showed me the errors of my ways. So again, THANK YOU ALL.
