Immbolizer/Starter 2000 S80 T6
Immbolizer/Starter 2000 S80 T6
Okay-My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks-not the dealer but a Volvo shop I have used many times for many of my past Volvo's. Code that would come up was "Imoblizer see Manual" part was changed, battery tested okay. However; car still will not start every time BUT will start with a start button by pass. Would this have anything to do with the ETM recall? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Whatever your problem is it has nothing to do with the ETM. ETM issue start once you get the car started and get it into gear. Good luck with your immobilizer. I suspect that if you changed it, you'll need a Volvo software download. Since your non-dealer shop isn't capable of that, this is your issue. As much as I hate to suggest it, I think you're in for a trip to the dealer.

Here's the info from the "Manual:"
Immobilizer (start inhibitor)
Each of the keys supplied with your car contains a coded transmitter. The code in the key is transmitted to an antenna in the ignition switch where it is compared to the code stored in the start inhibitor module. The car will start only with a properly coded key.
If you misplace a key, take the other keys to an authorized Volvo retailer for reprogramming as an antitheft measure.
