Help with CV Axle Replacement
Help with CV Axle Replacement
I am in the middle of changing my drivers side axle on my 2014 xc60 and ran into a snag. The replacement part ended up not fitting, it wouldn't go in all the way because the housing is slightly larger and ends up touching the transmission case. I decided to put the old one back but now it won't go in past the circlip and I can not figure out how to get it past that point. I tried greasing it up and even tapped it with a sledge hammer but nothing seems to move it past the clip. I'm assuming it's the clip that it won't go passed because there is about a 1/4 inch gap between the housing and differential case. What am I missing here?
I think you just have to muscle it back in. Did the clip get bent on the way out?

It didn't appear to be bent. Your advice is exactly what the service manager at the dealership said. He told me they usually grab the outter end and force it towards the inside end to kind of use it like a slide hammer and it should pop in, but it takes a good bit of force.
