Another option if you want the dash lights on all the time is to cut the white and black wire that connects to pin 8 of the master lighting switch, once cut your dash lighting is on whenever the ignition is switched on - Mike

That is very easy to do, I won't be trying it this weekend as the weather isn't good, maybe next week though with a YouTube clip to prove it - Mikeabscate wrote:Now if you can get your dash to pulse to "Staying Alive " by the BEeGees, you can stay in this thread...

i think most cars with the LED DRLs do this, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the blinkers flashing.precopster wrote:I saw the coolest thing on the new Jeep today; LED DRLs which switch off only on the side the turn indicator is used.
i really hate those LED DRL strips, but like fender vents they're "in vogue" right now. someday the storm will pass and we'll move onto the next dumb thing.

I would like to shoot the person at Audi who came out with these (and now everyone has them) &^&*@#^*&@%^#$@#*$)_$#!!!!
WAAAAAAAAAY too bright and for us old people who get blinded easily by headlights, and they are real annoying on a dark day (not to mention nightime).
Unnecessary, too bright and for what?
Anyone can easily see the old DRLs

I'm bringing up an old thread but after reading this i found that i have the tiny screw beside my headlight switch and low and behold i can turn the DRLs off easily. I've always been annoyed that when my headlights are turned to off, they actually weren't, and I'd like to humbly thank the engineers at volvo for giving me the option. Crazy.

..And in the Swedish forums we are raging the other way around
We have had DRL for too long, many people simply don't see cars without lights, even in daylight. Well.. A car without lights makes me look twice, at least..
Now, thanks to EU, we got the European DRL-law, and people who buy new cars don't know that they have to turn the lights on in the evening, because "off" has always meant lights on anyway.
And no, the automatic setting doesn't always work. Especially on Skoda's, it seems...
But fear no longer, on Volvos from 2014 the DRL includes the tail lights, so I guess that Volvos will be seen from behind. I'm pretty sure there will not be a tiny screw present, though.
