2009 S40 engine pulled, crank won't turn

Help,

I just pulled the engine/transmission assembly out of my 2009 Volvo S40. The crank was turning fine when I removed the harmonic balancer before pulling the engine.

I've:

Drained the transmission fluid.
Removed the starter.
The engine/transmission is currently suspended from a lift.
Timing belt is still installed.

I wanted to turn the crank in order to remove the torque converter bolts, but the crank seems locked solid. I even tried a breaker bar on the crank nut. With the above configuration is there some sort of interlock somewhere locking the crankshaft/transmission? I seem to be stuck.

Did you turn the crank clockwise or counterclockwise? The timing belt can slip if you turn counterclockwise.

Clockwise only. Can't turn counterclockwise a crank nut spins off.

You might try letting it down to the floor or a table so the bell housing is not carrying the full weight of the transmission.
I am thinking there might be just enough flex to bind it up.

This engine suffered a block crack and all the coolant ended up in the crankcase. What happened was I waited too long and the cylinders and rings rusted up and seized the crank. I ended up pulling the oil pan and bottom bearing to drop the crankshaft in order to get the torque converter.
