Can you switch door lock cylinders between driver and passenger side Topic is solved

My driver side lock cylinder is I believe so worn out that on the last breath...to unlock the door I have to wiggle my key and pray for minutes in hope that the doors will open

Can I replace lock cylinder from passenger door to driver door? As I never use passenger door lock anyway.

Well student, research will assist in your knowledge pursuit.

So, we start at ebay, and examine these photos.

And then do some Google searching for "volvo key lock," we come to this site.

So, your homework is to determine, and show us, if there is a difference between locks on left/right front doors.

hahaha thank you professor 93regina! yes, I did rush with question before researching more online, also if anyone reading this and has 1993 wagon version and wants to replace all the locks in the car to have the same key, you will need control cable to the shifter. so you will need to get 1993 version locks only. My little contribution to www university...

I installed 1991 Volvo 740 door locks on my 1988 Volvo 760 due to the type of door locks used on the 88-90 760. These 740 locks work just fine.

The lock cylinders are the same only the levers for linkage have the R and L difference. Remove the E clip and swap levers and you're good to go.

I did this and it worked , for future DIY folks , just be careful when removing E clip, there is a tension spring there, so make sure to rotate the spring and set up tension on it as well.
