yes, sounds very doable. Im considering doing this with several small washers I can cut in half with pliers. But I'm considering aborting this if it appears that I'll need to remove the whole cable to manage getting the cable end off and on again. Doing all the troubleshooting from under the car just makes me feel tired, and so does removing the carpet and pulling out the cable(s). Today is one of the last days of the year to accomplish this as I won't be doing such a task in the garage in winter with my small hands and my poor circulation. My hands literally turn purple in winter.

Some warm day when I feel energized this is likely to happen :-)

Went through this project a while back.
Cable stretched. Broke the adjuster etc.
I replaced everything. Pulling cables through is a pain on your own.
It can wait until warm weather.
I opted for the adjustable shoe spacer and that solved my problem of vague brake.
Volvo shoes will work a lot better than aftmkt.
