Camshaft sensor no signal

Hello

My car: Volvo S60 2003 200HP Turbo

In Volvo Vida I get «ECM 3000 Inlet camshaft sensor - signal missing»

I’ve changed the camshaft sensor but it didnt fix the problem. Its the sensor behind the engine on the drivers side?

If I clear the fault codes, it comes back again.
The «check engine» light comes on after I have started the car the third time after clearing the codes. The car cranks a few seconds before it starts. The 3 wires from the connector looks fine. Changed the vvt solenoid, plugs and battery.

Any suggestion what to do?

Double click on the DTC and read the DTC description.

The camshaft sensor is a 3 wire sensor. 1 Red/white, 2 black and 3 blue/black. What should the data be on each wire/pin when you test it with a multimeter with key in position II?

Red and black are power and ground, blue or blue-black is data. One cannot read data with a Multimeter.

Use the resistance function to check for shorts between any of the three wires on the harness side.

Use the resistance function to check for opens along the length of any of the three wires on the harness side.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

D2800350 Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-3000 covers the intake camshaft position (CMP) sensor on 6 cylinder engines and the exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensor on 5 cylinder engines.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-3010 covers the exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensor on 6 cylinder engines.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored ECM-3000 or ECM-3010 is stored if the pulse width modulation signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor is constantly high (signal too high) or low (signal too low).

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-3000 or ECM-3010 is stored if the pulse width modulation signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor is missing but returns sporadically (missing signal).

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-3000 or ECM-3010 is stored if the pulse width modulation signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor is sporadically missing (faulty signal).

The fault is diagnosed by the control module when the engine is running.

Possible source

Signal too high:
  • Open-circuit in the signal cable
    Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
    Short-circuit to ground in the power cable
    Open-circuit in the ground lead
    Defective camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
Signal too low:
  • Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
    Open-circuit in the power cable
    Loose connections.
Signal missing:
  • The camshaft position (CMP) sensor is in the wrong position
    Defective camshaft position (CMP) sensor
    Loose connections.
Faulty signal:
  • The camshaft position (CMP) sensor is in the wrong position
    Defective camshaft position (CMP) sensor
    Loose connections.
Fault symptoms
The engine is difficult to start.
