If you want to or have to use a bead, I load it into a baby medicine syringe for better control.https://www.amazon.com/Calibrated-Medic ... B000VCF6FG

So how long does it take to cure before use under room temperature, I live in norther NM and it is a bit colder here ( currently 39*) though my car is stored in a closed garage.

If you look on the Safety Data Sheet for Loctite 518 it says this:

2. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
LOCTITE 518 IND 6ML
2096062 2096062 United States
Anaerobic Adhesive None identified

If you look at the Safety Data Sheet for the Volvo anaerobic it says this:

2. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Anaerobic Gasket Maker 518
495539 37530
United States
Anaerobic Adhesive None identified

Notice the Volvo is described as Anaerobic Gasket Maker 518 meaning it is Loctite 518

They are both manufactured by Henkel AG of Germany

The Permatex will work just fine as it is 518 also, but they do not manufacture the Volvo

Hello, a bit late on this, but I've searched several SDS sheets and I've not been able to find this information. Even when comparing the composition and CAS numbers, Volvo sealant is different compared to 518. I believe they will work the same based on the technical specifications, with 518 possibly performing better than Volvo sealant as vehicle manufacturers are pushed to used more environmentally responsible products, but to say they are the same is not true based on the SDS sheets I've seen.

Attached is Loctite 510 SDS. This is a high temp flange sealant that, based off the composition in the SDS, is the closest match to Volvo 30644157 with the addition of bismaleimide resin. 510 has a higher maximum operating temperature which would make it more suitable for the application.

For comparison. Loctite 510 is not that much cheaper than Volvo 30644517, so for the price difference why not go with the original?
