I think I used a little assembly grease to hold the rectangular o-ring in the t-stat housing while reassembling.

Disconnect the oil line at the cooler, get the radiator out and onto the bench where you can really get at it. If you don’t want to stump up for a new one, renewal the fasteners so the future radiator job will be easy

Btw, Is there a writeup here on the oil thermostat? I think I will have to remove mine also pretty soon.

Be very careful with that, they are no longer available as new parts

Exactly, not sure if I can remove it? Is it within the rectangular splitter, or is it one unit? I will have to take it apart to replace orings/seals I guess. If I can I'd remove it at the time.

Good idea! I'll start picking at it!

Any radiator removal threads?

Started draining the radiator and removed some hoses for now.

I'll pick at it more after work.

What I remember it is quite straigthforward. Start at the top with the relais, cover, dipstick tube...
I think you also have to seperate the AC rad, then there are 2 mounts to unscrew from the bottom, which can be a bitch if the crimped on nuts break lose.
Not sure if you have to take the Intercooler out with it, but I think so (if you have one).

Yep it has an intercooleR

Get some PBB on the two Radiator M8 bolts on the ears - those are usually nasty.
