2000 V70 XC AWD acceptable jack points

Post by Rocket99 »

Are these locations acceptable
front wheels both at once: mid point of subframe front cross member
real wheels both at once: that think aluminum casting under the differential

for both front and rear wheels on each side at once: floor jack under the factory jack hitch point along the rocker panel under front door just ahead of the door rear edge. ONe side at a time of course.

Thx in advance

Rear of car can be lifted by the central plate of the rear sub-frame under the rear diff.

Side of car as you say by the original jacking points but only one side at a time.

Front. I normally do one side at a time under the rear sub-frame mount. It is well supported. Not-sure I would lift at the middle of the front on the sub-frame.

I normally support the car once off the ground at the front under the sub-frame behind the wheels. Rears I use a piece of wood on a jack stand and support under the rear jack mounts. If you need to drop the rear of the car, I support it just forward of the jack mounts spreading the load on a piece of dense wood like oak on the car floor under the rocker panel.

Canadian Eh?
I lived in Toronto for a year. Watched em' top off the CN tower. Saw Bruce Coburn play Ontario place. Lived on Indian Road by High park. Met this guy worked on his house he was across the street (drinking) buddies with Ronnie Hawkens just a block north of High park on Keele.

What a fabulous city, country.

Now I live in the 4th richest zip code in the USA and still think about Toronto

thx

I am Canadian by passport but Scottish originally before moving here 20 years ago. A decision I only regret as in Calgary it is impossible to find decent tradespeople! Country though and most people here are great. Would not go back!

One brother in Santa Rosa, CA. Again he loves it there.

Good luck with your car plans.

I may make a beam from a piece of hard hard wood to place floor jack at center front and have it lift at coners of front subframe. You are not the only seasoned Volvo guy who discourages lifing direct on the subframe center front. I'f I'm not mistaken he said he replaced one or more after making that mistake.

Thx Neil

What is your concern about the middle of the front subframe?

I have lifted from there and it seems to work ok. but seems is the key word there.

Been lifting my 2000 XC gently from the center front of subframe for 10+ years, no issues. May not be the best, but it works for me and doesn't appear to have any negative effects. After I jack it up, I usually put the jack stands under where the subframe mounts are.

Me too. Front center to raise only because it's super convenient.. Jack stands under subframe mounts.
