This really looks like the way to go to me...trying to figure out if the cups on this are 8mm or not, and if the spring retainer clips come with it. Even if this is too long or short, its close enough to be able to shorten the threaded sections or add longer ones as needed.

Update,
No, it didn't work. It was too short. I have a good friend who's a wiz in the garage and he cut one end and welded a old screw onto it to give me the length required. I think this one would work better, bit there's no details on the actual length!
