The best thing to do is take it to an auto electric shop. if you are way up in the North country, Watertown is probably your best bet.

I can test my spares if you are scrunching pennies, I know you are doing some work for others so we support that here

If you can drop by Utica Erie VoVo will sell you a good used one for $50

I will be able to check the local pick'npull tomorrow since I have time on my hands these days! They recently acquired a few Volvo's!!

I just gave my gray one for Earl the Pearl, the 1998 wagon, so gray would be gay!

You should have that air guide on K, it protects the AC condensor from damage.

An update:
I tested the starter once I got it out of the car, there was some life in it, but not enough to power up the gear, and current was very slight and intermittent. I suspect it is full of corrosion, with worn brushes, gunk, etc.
I pulled a used starter from a 2001 V70 at the local salvage yard, Bosch labelled, the solenoid looked like a new replacement, the outside of the motor was a little worn from oil/water/rust, etc..., but it worked - got the car started!!!
Hopefully, it starts with no problem when I take it on a longer drive this evening or tomorrow.

Abscate, the AC condenser on the blue Volvo is totally shot (the top and bolts are only thing left), and the dryer also has been raked over the coals. I suspect the PO had more than one accident before I purchased the vehicle. I know I have another air guide somewhere. Either here or in Syracuse. But you're welcome to the one that is with me up here in the North Country alongside the St. Lawrence River!! I can get it to Syracuse and you can pick it up whenever you are near there. How's that sound?
