So what is the problem with the Bremi's MAF, or more specifically, how do they not work ? I have one that I didn't end up needing, so it's just sitting in its box. I can't see FCP taking it back " just because ", so I figure I'll keep it for testing purposes. But I am curious as to what might be wrong with it vs. the Bosch.

It sends wrong data to ecu.
Just like aftermarket ECT or O2 sensor.

781 15 1 A 106 might be characteristics data. Electronics parts manufacturing is still an artform. One cannot just do a bunch of equations and poof one gets exactly what one wants. Electronics parts are manufactured shotgun style more or less. Then the characteristics are graded into different part number specs. Sometime a electronics manufacture will need to grade even more so then the component manufacturer.

OK understood, they might.

So, back on task; are you inferring/implying that your original suggestion:

Remove the sensor from the housing and get the Bosch part number off the sensor. ...

It might still with some leg work.

From the data sheet above I discovered these cars use the same sensor.

1997 & 1998 Saab 900 2.0L & 2.3L.
1999 Saab 9-3 SE 2.0L.

There might be more ...

The Delphi MAF probe I tried didn't throw any codes, but seemed slightly unstable at highway speeds. They included the proper security torx bit in the package.
