The CEM is responding. I don't think turning the key on will make a difference.

I don't use terminating resistors on mine because the resistance at the OBD port proves the CEM is already terminated. The only time I use terminating resistors is on the bench. But that was with P2. Measure the resistance at the CAN pins of the OBDII connector and post the measurements.

You are having trouble cracking everything you try to crack. The common factor is the cracker hardware. Post some good quality pictures of your hardware. Maybe one of us can spot something.

Do you have current logs (for when it fails)?

Some of the fails might be due to low or weak voltages. There are a lot of people running around with a marginal battery. Somewhere down the line a battery voltage check might be a needed addition. The question would be at what voltage would one call it a no go.

The most recent commit (https://github.com/vtl/volvo-cem-cracke ... 5badd3b094) changed the way how the candidate is elected. I would guess, it may break some cases, though unintended.

The shortlist method appears to work better then the old algo.

I'm thinking some of the fails maybe electronics not code. I have seen some of mine fail to crack when the battery voltage got low. Cracked after bringing the battery charge and voltage back up.

I see that too, with CEMs/dumps I have in my lab.

Right. This thread confirmed it many times that the quality implementation is the key to success.

Every last one of the V50 EWDs ( Electrical Wiring Diagrams ) are online ... in multiple languages. The EWDs have the connector pinouts. It is not straight forward but there is enough information that you can map out the pins. It will take some legwork.

4/56 is the CEM.

Schematic:
Connector:PIN
Example A:1 = Connector A : Pin #1

Connectors:
4/56A is connector A on the CEM.
4/56A:1 is pin #1 of connector A on the CEM.
Same goes for connector B, C, D, E, F, G, H

If you are looking to extract the dump file.
