Camshaft Position Sensor Location ?

Post by GPNov1663 »

Hi All,

I've got an XC90 2011 D5244T18 engine.

Looking to replace my camshaft position sensor after seeing fault code: ecm-3000 camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Can anyone advise where this sensor is located? having trouble finding a diagram online.

The reason for pursuing this is I'm having intermittent cold start problems where it won't start at all first try, then instantly starts 2nd turn.

Also, have various swirl actuator fault codes (ecm-1850 through to 1890), but surely that doesn't affect cold starting?

Would appreciate comments and feedback. Thanks

ggleavitt - Thank you very much! While you're in Vida, what does it say for error code ECM-3000 ?

VIDA has two entries for ECM-3000 on a D5244T18, CPS faulty signal and CPS missing signal. In both cases the suggestion is made about wiring (corrosion, connections) or a faulty sensor. Possible Source line mentions a damaged mass air flow sensor but suggest you might also be seeing a corresponding ECM -134x or -135x code under that circumstance.

Fault trace for resolution is wire tracing- sensor pin 1 to ECM pin #A10 (GND), sensor pin 2 to ECM pin #A33 (Signal), and sensor pin 3 to ECM pin #A7 (5V supply).

ggleavitt - That's incredibly helpful. Thank you. I will report back with my findings. Replacing the sensor itself over the next coup of days.
