I think it was hot weather climates only, so VINs originally registered in certain states

Krons said on the airbag recall thread he got his 2002 S60 170K fuel pump replaced under the recall on his northern US car by calling volvo. If I knew how to link to the post I would. June

abscate, you are correct in that this mechanic does have one of those cameras (Borescope) you spoke of. This mechanic I have only used in emergencies in the past as his labor rates are high but he is right around the corner. I think he is trying to scare me when he said "I would hate to have your car catch on fire". Great!

br0dy519, which is it? Under the rear bench seat or in the trunk area? Need to confirm. Maybe after viewing "Jonesg" video that will tell me for sure.

jonesg, after following your good instructions, and clean up that area, should I turn on the engine again to see where the actual leak is coming from? Or maybe it will be obvious. You mentioned, "very likely the fuel pump top plate". That doesn't sound like an EVAP hose or a fuel supply line. Just wondering which part(s) I will be JB Welding. That video looks like a lot of stuff to remove. I wished I lived closer to the beautiful state of Maine and I would come up and see you.
If you have not fixed already here is the recall. I had to call Volvo USA and open a ticket, a few days later they approved it on my 2002 with 160k+ miles. Zero cost for dealer to fix.

I should note I did do the two part epoxy fix to keep the car driveable while I waited for Volvo USA to approve. Can't recall what type but was plastic compatible and fuel resistant. Simply clean well with qtips and rough plastic with small sandpaper bits for epoxy to adhere to. Guessing for many the epoxy is a long term fix that will hold.

Krons, I guess I blew it! I thought I had checked really good for my year and they said it was not on the list when I spoke to a live person.
I did not know about opening a ticket.

It won't be on the list because of the poor logic of the recall. Only for cars registered in southern US states. Same temperature cycling with fail the flange in northern states. Being a safety issue all cars should have been covered when it failed. Glad my kid didn't smoke in the car, kaboom.
