The video was made way back in the beginning of all this. The x0 prefix was removed in later versions of the code.

Lots of SN65HVD230D chips and assembled SN65HVD230D CAN transceiver circuits on eBay.

A eBay vendor in Edinburg, Texas has lots of Bosch CF160.
Is it best to use the bosch ones ? , there not available over here in the uk anymore. It looks like they've been obsolete for some time , although I agree there available via ebay.us

I made a purchase for the CF160s from the states on ebay.us

You could get you one of them ready made PCBs for the CF160s and a J2534 / ISO 15765 ( OBD2 ) cable. That would eliminate a lot of physical build issues.

BTW: the CF160 version is one of my designs. There are a couple of people that designed PCBs for it. One of the MVS members made a batch of them, I don't recall who. Perhaps they will chime in and offer to sell you one.

Note: Pin one is not marked on the CF160s. The beveled edge is the key to determining which side is pin 1 - 4. You can figure this out from the CF160 datasheet.

The small parts I previously mentioned turned up (typical)
I placed an order afew days ago via pcbway which said it was part of this cem cracker. I'll have alook again what version of the transceiver it is.

I have also purchased a blank obd port & I'll use some Ethernet wire as that's twisted pair.

I tested the cem cracker on it , but it didn't work very well although further testing is coming

I have instead gone down the route of coping the microcontroller. M32c

If I where to copy the m32c on board microcontroller to another one I have with the same part number would I need to perform a checksum on the data before I copy it over to the other one ?

No worries , I'll certainly do that. , does the microcontroller need a checksum performing in it if its a straight copy over?

No, just copy/paste 😁

Ah ok 👍 , I always assumed any data transferred from Microcontroller to Microcontroller. A checksum is required. , I must be getting mixed up with if data is modified then pasted in to the target Microcontroller.
