My poor spouse learned to drive stick shift on a 1965 Beetle whose clutch had to be pulled back with string. Awful. That’s a great fix for the damper.

that my friend is brilliantcrlande wrote: ↑09 Nov 2022, 19:34 '94 Volvo started making a clicking noise when that arm and servo broke. I pulled glove box and attached string to recirc flap. Installed glove box, fed string around/over it. Left it hanging inside box. Pull on it when I want recirc flap open or closed!
Now I will sit back and wait for a ACA comment. (Abscate Cheapism Award)!!!

I wanted to update this thread. I was able to get the servo motor out and it was very easy. that one little torx screw was all it took and it slide right out. the motor is bad for sure. after disconnecting the flapper arm and switching the vent button open and closed, the motor stutters bad with nothing attached to it.
got a replacement on the way thanks to Neil for the help with that. fingers crossed it does the job. when it gets here i am going to take apart my original one and see if there is any way to repair it.
