Half the newer vehicles on the road now blind you when approaching, anyway.

I remember in the olden days when there were regulations about headlight height and so forth. If they still exist, they must be loosely enforced or ignored. Growing up in NJ, headlight alignment was one of the few things they really checked during your annual drive-thru state vehicle inspection. If your headlights were out of alignment, you failed.

The biggest problem seems to be with tall vehicles like pickups and SUVs, especially if they have been lifted even higher than stock. In many cases, even brand new vehicles are just WAY TOO BRIGHT or are not properly focused or collimated.

Having said all of that, MODERN headlights SUPPOSEDLY can be super bright because they ARE properly collimated and the beam stays on the road. If you put super bright lamps in an old 1960's round headlight with little or nothing really designed to focus or limit the beam, it probably is more of an issue for oncoming drivers.

They're high beams, they don't get used when there is approaching traffic. I travel on a low traffic divided freeway at 3am.

When that first started, I assumed they where skipping the burn-in at the factory to save a dime.

Mine came in today and I did a test fit. They don't rock. You might want to check the bulb retaining springs on your car, they may need to be bent back a hair to tighten them up.

Looked up the specs for the bulbs on the Oxilam website. The are 4000lm not the 16000lm the Aliexpress vendors are claiming. Standard Halogen H7 is 1350lm. 4000/1350 X 0.8 X 100% = 237% ... down out of the stratosphere to something more practical.

4000lm X 0.8 = 3200lm. Some after market Halogen H7 can go as high as 5000lm.

It worked out pretty well. Lights up the road and street signs good but not over done, blinding on coming drivers.

I’ve ordered a spray can of the stardust colours go chrome for mine, will post results as they are corroded now and very poor.

+1 for an objective test!

+10 if you used the same exposure between shots!

+10000000000 if you used the same exposure between shots and checked that ambient nighttime background illumination was generally similar!

+1x10⁹⁹ if you used the same exposure between shots and checked that ambient nighttime background illumination was generally similar using an EV meter and recreated exactly the distance from headlight to house wall!

Whatever the case, outstanding thinking-outside-the-box on this one with white paint. So much more accessible than chrome-ish paint, or chroming itself. I love headlight illumination testing. It brings out the super nerd in me.

I saw some of the products on Youtube. Looked excellent but it's not here in the States

. A clear coat on the white may provide even more reflection. A little reflection worked wonders as with my S70. Look forward to seeing your results with Stardustcolors!
