Just so you know, the MAF (depending on part number if it ends 107 on the Bosch number) is now only available from Volvo.

You may need to find a used one. If you have no luck with that I have a few including one that was run in a car for 4 weeks.

Only clean the MAF with MAF cleaner and don't soak it. I use an old toothbrush with MAF cleaner to clean the plastic mesh guard and a soft cloth for the rest then let it sit and drain out and residue.

Ok, more digging has been done and boy did I find some cracked hoses. I've attached some pics of some hoses that are cracked and look suspect. I think the new PCV hoses will take care of a few, but for the others I'll need to figure out what I need and get some length of hose and cut it. I also need some elbows, pretty sure I saw an elbow kit on IPD.

Also - the loose connecter under the fresh air intake. I can't see where it would plug in... Bit lost there. I also found a couple of other connectors, one that was disconnected and hanging lose, and the other was connected to something (looks like some kind of termination) but was also just stuffed into a hole and not tied down. Does anyone know what these are/are for?

2 other connectors - they look the same connection but one is open, the other was swinging in the wind connected to some kind of terminator thingy, both were found in the drivers sid front area next to the charcoal cannister (if that what that can is down there)

High CO (carbon monoxide) is a failed catalyst. It’s job is to turn CO into CO2 and water vapor. Your front O2 sensor adjusts your fuel / air mix, the rear O2 sensor makes sure the catalyst is working. It may be that there isn’t any matrix left in your cat, they rattle when old and fools knock out the innards instead of replacing it. If it sounds hollow, it is.

Amazing, thanks - I guess the length doesn't matter all too much, just the diameter. I'll head to the hardware store and pick up some hose/pipe.


ALso. I hope its not the cat - I'm having a hard to impossible time finding one that is a direct fit that can be used in Colorado.

I wouldn't even risk touching the MAF element with anything. Just spray it and let it dry.

If anyone knows what these are I'd love to know...

1st pic: Fuel line, please replace ASAP
2nd pic: some vacuum/evap elbow
3rd pic: all look like they should be replaced
connector: cannot say, could be anything, possibly headlight motor or wiper or whatever
last connector: looks like a temp sensor possibly, ext. temp, coolant temp, brake reservoir have similar connectors if I'm not mistaken.

Also strongly agree with what was said: O2 might not throw a code. Cat could be bad.
Replacing all vac lines is a start, I'd get a boost/vacuum gauge to see what is going on (if there is any change), but I doubt it is the fix. I had all kinds of leaks on my 850, emissions were fine. Once the leak is bad enough and the idle control can't compensate the car won't run good or at all, in my experience. For sure the easiest thing to fix and start with.
Also doubt MAF, as I think it would run bad, but I am also just guessing here. Maybe you have multiple issues that have various degrees of influence on the issue...
