I looking to buy this car from someone, and I'll like to have some reviews about it.
car has ~171.000km, looks great ext and int, and run very fine for now.
second owner, some retreat person, who took really good care about cars, he has 4 volvo's so he's passionate about.
speeds change very smooth, engine sounds like a volvo smile.gif
only one little thing: sometimes, when I brake, I hear a noise like an air leak from some kind of hose, or valve or I dont know what, but brakes function OK; if I release the pedal and repress the sound stops.
I want to mention the price, it's around 5000-5200 CAD , so what you think? it worth buying?
tks for your help

Always, no matter what forum I'm on I read horror stories about one car, and that's the '99 S80. I would say avoid it. Look for at least an '02. Even if it's good now, you're playing Russian roulette with this one....'01's are known to be plagued with electrical problems that are hard- well, almost impossible to diagnose. I'm not saying you're going to have problems with this one- it could be that this is the rare exception, but for a Volvo guy to be selling this particular car is interesting to me....I ask, why this one and not one of his others?

Ditto MIJ. My dad has a '99 S80. Don't buy it.

we've got a 2000 junk, looks pretty always problems which dealer "fixes" with ecm upgrades, Yesterday got it back with and found a cracked vacuum hose which they overlooked. while charging 135 for the "upgrade"
Unforunatly they think everything is a software problem and overlook the obvious taking he eas way to generate revenue for th dealer. I owned a 144 and a 240 , Now I'll never buy another european car, Leae the electronic to the japanese, thats what they do best
