I honestly feel like it’s kismet, because I spent all day at car dealerships and was about to finance a Toyota Highlander this afternoon but they needed paycheck stubs which I didn’t have so I’m supposed to go back in the morning and finish the deal. Then I get home this evening and decide to check marketplace one last time and there it was… I don’t want a Toyota Highlander. I want my old car back. And this is almost the exact same one.
I know male brains will likely not agree with any of this logic but there it is, nonetheless. Ha.
That interior does look like a garage-kept car, the tan interiors don't do well after being in the sun for 25 years or so.
If the Mature (ahem) people in the story are driving it regularly, the oil leak may simply be something they notice dripping on the garage floor; I agree with the others about the light/code comments, knowing the actual trouble code numbers would be helpful.
If the ABS light is shining, that will set a code, and likely means cracked solder joints on the control board, which is very common through '00 as I recall. Rebuilt units are available and the job is a little tedious but not terribly difficult.
It looks like a pretty nice car and the ask seems fair. Keep plugging away at it, you're almost there.

The F/B ad seems to say the car on offer is a '98, so some confusion may have crept into the thread.
One common place for oil leaks on the pre-'99 turbo cars is the oil cooler lines, again, not a big issue but annoying. I have removed them completely on two cars and installed the delete plate, end of problem.

The thread starter seems to be in Ohio, and the F/B ad may be local to her - and she needs a ride soon, so a road trip may be one step too many.

Omg, I totally used to have a 91’ 740. It’s was blue. No headliner. Radio didn’t work. Loved that car. Crashed it. I swear I’m not a terrible driver, it’s other people! Ha. That one is a little out of my price range for a cash car. I had a finite amount to spend.
I’m going to pick up the s70 this evening. I just decided to go for it. I’ll keep you guys posted after I get it. Hopefully it will be a good report.

I'd say that it looks very promising, just have a mechanic look at it! Will probably need a good bit of basic maintenance and troubleshooting but you are getting it from the original owner.

A garage kept T5 from the original owner is a good find. I paid almost that much for a one owner T5 (albeit a manual) at a risky local auto auction. I hope it includes service records (from the dealership?) and the original window sticker would be a nice bonus.

How much do feel like doing your own work? You can swap the ABS computer with nothing more than a small mirror, hex bit driver, and patience. But do you have a garage to work in? I totally understand restoring a daily driver, needing to get the job done that night so you can drive it tomorrow. It's possible, just requires planning.

Start a thread to document how you restore it to stage zero (everything operating as it should). Good luck!

I will definitely bring it by, Chuck. I really appreciate it.
So I got some codes and also some invoices showing work he had done in November. The car itself is literally in pristine condition. Exterior and interior. I had a two hour drive home and it felt really good as I was driving. Super smooth, everything is really tight and I think it might accelerate even better than my old one. Guys, I think I got one good one and a really good deal on it. I think. Less than 3k(if that’s inappropriate or we’re not supposed to talk about pricing and stuff on here, I’ll delete, I just feel like it’s an important piece of information in knowing whether or not I got a good car for a good price). I feel like, if I take care of this car, I could drive it for several years.
