Took all of the bolts too. I was thinking that I might buy two new ones for the main subframe attachment because those heads took some hits when the forklift picked up the car. I obviously got them off, but considering the torque it seems they are set at, I'd feel better with a couple of new ones.

Yeah, the big bolts are a little longer, and the 3 others on the plate are a good 15mm or so longer, seeing as the bracket there is as thick as the brace tubing. The 4 bolts on the other plate are the same as the non-vert cars.

You will need to add threaded inserts, unless your car has a vert subframe under it already for some reason. (if you have 2-bolt control arms, you don't have a vert subframe)

I think Volvo says new on the long ones into the snout whenever the subframe is removed. You don’t have to listen to Mother always, but an inspection protocol if you reuse would be smart

For that front brace, I would recommend rivet style nut inserts like these https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-pro ... 58078.html

Inspect, clean threads, blue loctite, reinstall. Should be fine! Probably...

You get different riv-nuts, aluminum, steel and stainless. I would go with the regular steel ones. They are more flexible where stainless are too rigid.

Those are exactly what I would have used, but I still have to check if they rear mounts are where the AWD prop-shaft bearing mounts to.

Tough call. I don’t like Loctite as it means dry threads , and in the rust belt that’s death.

I nickel antiseize them, torque to spec, then punch mark them.

Inspect marks daily for a week, weekly fir a month, then monthly for six months.

Have you experienced corrosion using Loctite? It's my understanding that it should also keep moisture out. I don't usually use it on the undercarriage, Though.

Interesting note on the loctite. I could see that potentially being a problem. I've had the privilege of replacing rear wheel bearings on a BMW that seems to have been up north. It's a 2015, and the effort I have to put into removing those rear axles was unbelievable. I absolutely destroyed one of the stubs, and the other one survived after some more careful heating and half a can of PB blaster. Man, I'm spoiled living in the south.

That said, the next day, I smoothly removed two axles without a single hammer impact from a 2005 BMW X5. Southern car... go figure!

Has your car been in an accident? I suppose plastic could get old, but i think the window regulator is metal, isnt it? I didnt think that could crack.
Took a while for me to check this forum again, but I literally just closed the door. Probably used too much force doing so. The internals of the motor in the window regulator is metal, but on the outside it is just plastic.

Today I removed the wooden trim of my S70 that I am parting out, along with other parts of the interior and some AC piping with my friend who also has a S70 and needed some parts and wanted the wooden trim. Also worked on my slightly rusty 740 wagon, hoping to get it inspected for the summer!

Yesterday, I took the Rotten Tomato to Moore to look at a car. Left it running while looking at that car, while getting food from jimmy johns and chikfila, while getting groceries from aldi, and while in walmart. The ac did not run out or get weak, the engine stayed cool, and it performed very well. I even had a last minute detour to home depot in Ada to get 10 bags of mulch. Fat dog Spencer comfortably rested in 2nd row with the 60% split cushion folded up and blanket down. My girl Rose curled up next to me in the front seat awake and anxious. 2 dogs, 10 bags of mulch, and groceries. A semi-productive trip in a schmancy 5 speed; that was fun. I didn't like the laid-back careless attitude of the salesman toward maintenance of the car. But a fun trip nonetheless.
Im not kidding, i stress out because Im concerned it might overheat like the white one did, even though that was fan related, or like the more likely chance the 960 has in hot climates. But it worked good yesterday! Does anyone here have an elevated stress level about their Volvo failing in some way? Stress they dont have with their non-Volvo cars?
