All the clips for the loom onto the fan cowl were destroyed by some ham-fisted garage monkey. I manages to buy 'fir tree cable ties' last week and it's now all tidied and back to factory stage zero :)

Would you mind taking a couple detailed photos of how and where the wiring attaches to the shroud? Mine's incorrect and I can't tell for sure exactly how its supposed to go, also I have some clips on the headlight wiring loom that are supposed to affix the wiring to flat sheet metal and Im not sure where they are supposed to attach, thanks.

Not sure my pictures will be much help
This is an eBay image to show the position of the holes
All red arrows are where the cooling fan harness is clipped into.
All yellow arrows are for the alternator A/C harness (I presume that's where the wires go!!!)

I'm not sure if there should be a fir tree clip where the blue arrow is, I feel it would throw the line of the cable out a bit so I just used a plain cable tie for that hole

To be honest, I haven't tested the pump yet because the brakes seem to be fine, and another emergency came up. After 3000 miles, there was only a drop of oil on the dipstick :o . I've never had oil burning issues before, but I've refilled with fresh oil and 600 miles later, the oil level has been steady. I'm kicking myself for letting it go so long before checking, but all other indications (fuel consumption, vibrations, etc) are fine. I'll give it another oil change and maybe an engine flush in the next 200 miles. The weather has been awful here back in NY (cold and rainy) and I can only work on the car outdoors.

If you still had oil on the dipstick, even just the tip, it’s fine. Keep it between the hash marks but no worries about getting a bit low in the crankcase, no damage done.

Thanks! that's reassuring. Another thing, which may not be so important, is that it takes about 10 minutes of driving before the engine temp gauge gets to half way to normal operating. That's today at 33 degrees. Maybe the thermostat is stuck open? the quicker the engine reaches normal operating temps, the better.
