2005 xc70 WHAT IS this part??!

2005 xc70 WHAT IS this part??!

Changing xc70 plugs
Dropped socket in back of engine
Had to remove lower plastic pan
Found socket
AND
What looks like a main bearing type half round casting w bolt hole on each end
About 6 in long
Any idea what it is???[img][/img]
And where it goes???

looks like it is coming from the passenger axle shaft carrier bearing housing.

Ack! Yes it does look like ones in online diagrams! Thank you very much. Any idea what the 2 bolts are??

Seems to be a flange screw M8 x 35mm, pn: 988983

I guess it goes without saying that the screw does not go with the axle bearing. :)
I'm assuming your two bearing bolts rattled out and are gone. They are M8x35 flange screws, Volvo part #982797. If recall they are angled such that they are pretty easy to get to with like a 6" ratchet extension. 12mm or 13mm I think.

I used to work for Lockheed space, so no. Good joke though!
Factory as far as I know…
Owned car since 2016
Assume I take off the wheel and there it is?
