Misha, when you trigger an SRS light on your dash, for example when not disconnecting the battery when working on the system, is that different to what you are talking about when the system actually records an actual activation?

I have a tool that resets the Service light and SRS light on 96-98 P80's. Do you need something different to reset the system for this type of activation? I know there was an Autel tester that was able to reset SRS lights several years ago.

Yes...it's totally different signal to srs module.
Crash data must be erased or srs module replaced along with airbags after accident.
He already tried to erase srs dtcs with no success...the system didn't respond since crash data is still stored.
CAN network on '99 and after is more complicated.

Why would you do that?
If srs isn't working...repair it properly or leave it as it is.
Resistor will just fool somebody that srs is ok when it isn't...for example...a new owner.
If you don't plan to sell the car...remove the bulb.
Removing the bulb and connect a resistor instead of airbag will do the same....warning light will not be ON and srs system will be inactive.
You never know when you will need it...(knock on wood).

Also...did you reset codes after installing a replacement airbags?
Did you also replaced a passenger seat belt pretensioner?
Seat belt pretensioner is working together with coresponding airbag.

AFAIK, the steering wheel and passenger dash bags have always
been electrically deployed with squibs.

Hello Misha , I think you misunderstood, I have two passenger airbags, one of which is from a 99 model vehicle and the other one that is currently installed on a 98 model vehicle. I wanted to try this method because it was tested with resistance by Volvo, my purpose is neither to turn off the light nor to deceive myself when selling or using it. .I bought 3 airbags because I wanted to fix them. This is what I said https://www.ebay.com/itm/334487824807

So Misha has taught me something else that I didn't know about the crash data. So it sounds like you have to take it to Volvo to erase the crash data, assuming they still can! Some dealerships have started to sell of older equipment as it is taking up space.

The only other option is as Misha says to swap out the SRS module. Man is this complicated!

Ok.
First...you will need to erase crash data from srs module and rewrite a new memory and start from there.
It can be done via Volvo dealeship or with some good programmers who works on cars ecu(s) if you have them in Turkey.
Those people can do anything you want with ecu(s) and have proper softwares and equipment.
Second thing you can do is to find a replacement (good working)srs module from a car which is not crashed and install it.
Make sure that replacement ecu have exactly the same part numbers like the old one in order to work.
Seat belt pretensioner must also be replaced along with airbags.

Also...i think that srs module must also be from a C70 since it have additional ROPS system which sedans and wagons don't have.

It's not Neil.
There are just a few things that needs to be sorted out and all will be good again.
