Thanks Jim. So, you think my current OEM mount is just defective?

How do you know you have movement? Are the other mounts good?

All mounts were replaced last year (along with RMS) during a clutch replacement. I had noticed excessive rebound when driving over a speed bump in first gear, particularly right after the rear wheels come down off the bump at very low speed; the car just rocks fore-aft a few times before settling down, and I can hear a metal-to-metal sound coming from somewhere; also, I did this with the hood open and a friend observed that the engine rocked excessively. Then we applied hand pressure to the top of the engine and could rock it --for comparison checked amount of movement the same pressure produced on another car of the same year, and it was much less. While one was pushing the engine, I could see that the rubber component of the front mount was allowing the movement. Poking the rubber, it seems softer than the one on the other car as well.

For those of you who have replaced the Passenger Side Lower Motor Mount:

- What were the symptoms?
- What mileage when yours went?

Most of us just seen that it was torn. Inspect it yearly and change it when it goes bad.

Bump, I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this thread. While replace the "rear Hydraulic mount" I found it imperative I had to use a 1/4 drive extension to get past the sway bar. with a 14mm socket.

Sorry to wake up an old thread, but I have a question, I have a 2000 C70 T5, and I’m replacing the offside lower arm (right hand drive) and in the course of getting to the bolts, which go through the subframe, I believe you unbolt this engine mount and lift the engine in order to obtain access to the bolt which is obscured by the engine, is that correct? I know to use a block of wood on the Jack to lift the engine, any more tips from anyone?

I think the 00 C70 T5 are P80 chassis. If so... On my 1998 S70 T5 the mount completely collapsed so I had jack it up in order to remove the 2 side engine bolts before getting the sub-frame bolts.

Also, by jacking up the engine, am I likely to break anything, this is the major concern for me right now, what should I remove or disconnect in order to prevent that? I’ve got 3 of the 4 arm bolts loose, just that one which is blocked by the engine to get, bit nervy as I’ve never attempted this on this car before.
