Hello,
I recently flushed the ATF on my Volvo. As I was removing the filter box, this appendage broke off
. Upon further inspection it had been glued on, so this was not the first time it happened. No idea when it happened initially. I tried to follow in kind and glue it back on. It came off recently, CE light illuminated, and the following code was posted ECM-P017100 System Too Lean (Bank 1). While running the engine I put a temporary 'cap' over the hole, a noticeable ECU adjustment took place, cleared the fault code, and it's remained off.My question is: What is that lobe/appendix even for? Moisture? There are no drains that I noticed, no sensors or filters.
The car is running fine. My first thought was this could be a universal part and more important for other models.
Thoughts? If it's an important part of that assemblage I'll buy a new one, but if not I would consider installing a more robust cap.
