Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

I looked and found very little...from the seatbelt receptacle (not the seatbelt portion that retracts into the A-pillar) there is a wire that goes to the front of the seat along the rail and then it plugs into a connector where other wires meet it under the seat. I would try to probe this wire for continuity with an ohm meter but I wouldn't do it with the SRS system still hooked up. Best bet is to disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes before starting and then plut it back in when you're finished. It could also be on the A-pillar side, but I doubt it. I remember going through something similar (the receptacle side would no longer accept the seat belt tongue) and I had to replace the entire receptacle side at the dealer. If this is the case, let me recommend a local pick-n-pull or www.erievovo.com (call them as the don't answer email very well).

Then I'd say it's up in the pretensioned section on the A-pillar...where the connection would become a closed loop from insertion of the belt buckle tongue into the receptor...something I wouldn't want to mess with and would leave to the dealer as there are real sensitive parts in there that could cause your air bags to deploy.

The seat belt sensor, actually a switch, is built into the seat belt catch, Volvo part # 9191817-7, $75.81 list price. It triggers/arms the srs system. It has the orange release button and is bolted to the inboard side of the seat. Slide seat all the way back and you can use channellocks or unbolt seat and use star and ratchet.Torque to 35 ft/lbs if desired. Hope that helps. Oh, then you have to get it "Initialized" with a volvo scanner.

All done, reset at the dealer for US$60

Had a new key made also, US$250
They should really give these cars away
with what the service dept charges.

I know you're P'ed Off about your S80 and understandably so, but it would be nice to keep the original issue (your first post) intact so that the rest of the thread makes sense. I hope that you are problem free for awhile. Do the preventative stuff now so other problems that can be avoided don't come up.
