Bevel protractor for head bolts???

Post by beewstew »

Just got the head installed on a 2004 XC70 with a 2.5l 5 cylinder. Torquing the first two stages was pretty straightforward, but now I need to do 130Β° of further rotation on the 10 new head bolts. Are bevel protractors and actual tool that I can buy at an auto parts store? I've never seen one in the wild before. Should I just draw 130Β° on the top of the head with a sharpie and hope for the best?

Update: the local auto parts stores do not have these in stock "anymore". Had to go with Amazon.

Resolved: 130deg wasn't that hard w a 24" breaker bar. Thanks for the Amazon suggestions.

The cheapo I got one was a Chinese one. They come in different flavors, the gyst is to have it stay still so that you can do the final 130 degrees.

A small warning though, 130 degrees is very very hard to do πŸ˜ƒ

I've never used one of these, I've just made paint marks to judge where I was. Does the jumper cable-looking clamp just hold it from rotating?
