Is the oil trap below the intake manifold cleanable? The oil was free from coke/grit/charcoal when I drained the engine post head gasket replacement and the oil filter passages were clear, but there were a few coke deposits in the inner small grooves of the valve cover.
Wondering if I should bother pulling and cleaning or replacing the oil trap before putting the intake manifold back on.

If I had the intake off, I would remove and inspect the oil trap box. It can be cleaned, but you can't open it, so it is flush cleaning mostly. If nasty, I would buy a new one.

If your car in a turbo then your can probably clean out the oil trap with carb cleaner or the like. However if your car is a non-turbo then there will be a vacuum control diaphragm that is integral to the oil trap. Those diaphragms get coked up to the point of failure making the oil trap a throw-away item.

Otherwise, re-use it after cleaning with gasoline +/- carb cleaner as mentioned above. It is just a simple plastic box.

This thread talks about the full PCV service I mentioned. Sorry I stated PVC instead of PCV.
