Rear hatch issues 08 xc70 3.2

Hello, a few months back i noticed in Vida that I was getting a 3rd brake light fault. Upon inspection, the brake light appeared to be in good working order with all the led’s functioning. About a month later I started to notice that every once in a while when I would open the hatch the alarm would go off and found that the hatch wasn’t always locking. So recently, I had the battery disconnected for a few days while replacing the blower motor and now the hatch no longer locks at all and the power hatch doesn’t respond to the button on the dash or on the key fob. If I push the button on the hatch it does automatically close and latch. My question is, is all this stuff related somehow? Are these cars sensitive to weak batteries, or have issues with wires breaking going into the hatch? Could it be that the lock just quit working and it disabled the auto up feature, Or does this sound like a potential grounding issue with the plug above the headliner? All the lights work on the hatch along with the rear wiper. I appreciate any insight you guys might have. -Ed

There can be issues with any vehicle that has a wiring harness that runs into the tailgate at the hinge area. The constant opening and closing can cause the wires to harden and break. Certainly something to check for.

Tailgate latches can be an issue. A friend of mint is on I thing the 3rd on his 09 V70.

Beyond that I am out of my knowledge bas on P3 cars for these issues.
