Hood wont open form the driver side

HI all,
My Hood does not open from the driver side but opens from the passenger side but that makes it hard to open the hood unless some one pulls while I pulls the latch.

Thank you in advance for any input.

Been discussed here many times. Adjust the cable slack at the lever inside the car and/or lower the driver side latch under the hood. Look in the Repair Database (tab at the top of this page) for detailed directions on adjusting cable slack.

I vote for lowering the latch a couple of millimeters first - it is easier, and adjusting the cable did nothing for me anyway.

Lower the latch and for good measure put a rubber bumper on the rad support (to give more tension, so the hood will "pop" open (up)

I loosened the bolts on my latch, and shimmed it, thus "tilting" it back.

Be careful and don't break the release cable! I did that and it is very hard to get the hood open again on the AWD.

I have the the same problem...but not really. I stuff a rag under the side that releases, near the hood latch, putting a little pressure on hood. Hit the release again and and presto! Your in! Lazy man's fix. Hey, I still drive
a Jeep! I'm just putting all that experience to work:)

Hi Shaimaa,
Hopefully this will work for you. When you release the hood and only one latch frees up, take a thick rag and stuff it on the released side of the hand release lever(under the grill by the bumper). This will put pressure on the unreleased latch, so when you pull the hood release inside the car again, the second latch releases and open like you would normally. Unless there is something else wrong, this generally works. The other fixes described in this thread work as well.

I use a small bungee cord to pull the cable tight while I push on the hood to release it. Hook it to the cable handle in the car and anywhere under the seat.
