Rotor Pin
I’m working on changing my struts and I found this on the rotor. Is this pin meant to be here when the wheel is mounted to the rotor? I can imagine it would affect the balancing of the wheel/tire. Should I remove it?

I believe that when the added weight is that close to the center of the rotating mass that the overall effect on the wheel balance is negligible.
Add that same amount of weight out at the edge of the rim, like where a wheel balancing weight would be, and the effect will be much more pronounced.

On some wheels the pin indexes the wheel so it goes on in the dynamically balanced location

I have never seen this on a P2, but guess it is possible. P80 cars had a point on the back of the rims with a hole in it to help align the wheel lugnut bolts at night should you get a flat. There was only one point on the back of the rims. However, later rims do not have this so it is pointless. I suspect you have a late P80.

There are. There was on my P2, but when I installed my spacers I had to remove them.scot850 wrote: ↑11 May 2025, 02:49 I have never seen this on a P2, but guess it is possible. My P2 has such a low Chassis code it shares many parts with the P80 platform. It’s an ‘01 but an early one at that. I had to order P80 strut bearings for this job.scot850 wrote: ↑11 May 2025, 02:49 I have never seen this on a P2, but guess it is possible. One other thing guys, jacking/support points on this vehicle seems like a nightmare. Yesterday I supported the car with a jack stand on this subframe bolt. I had seen some people do this I believe. I’ve read people talk about warping subframe mounts etc and this was the recommended spot?
