Always a bit scary when you see those. Kudos to tire makers for redundant redundancy

That's a thing going around. You pick it up on the street. I think it is called tire pox.

Took the center console off the 850 today.
There are cracks here and there

The piece that holds the armrest has come off and has been repaired before.

Here it is really terrible looking as the previous owner tried to glue the leather gaiter to the gear lever.

After I removed the glue it looks better. I think I can save this center console.

Patching the cracks with epoxy

This crack is hard to see. This crack in the front I want to glue with metal epoxy and a piece of flat iron on the underside to support the whole thing. I have something called Devcon that gets very strong when it hardens.

I think the seats are going to come out too so I can get the car properly cleaned.
I've also figured out that the 850 arm rest will work in my Saab 900 too, currently building a holder for it, that's one thing I miss in that car, the nice arm rest. And the grey velour looks better than any of the leather variants out there. I've found another grey velour arm rest online so I'll be getting that one. This way I'll also get cup holders.

Today was new parking brake cables day.
E-brakes performed like rubbish and I could already see one cable showing internal rust through the sleeve. This is an issue for MOT/TÜV certification and a nuisance in general. With new Volvo cables at hand and RobertDIY video on repeat I replaced the old (aftermarket) cables and refitted drums with ATE brake shoes. I was really happy with the cable quality and fit. Refitted drums were a charm to adjust and now the Vehicle has its "anchor" back.
It always bothered me that the equalizer was out of balance. I noticed a washer used underneath the cable supposedly compensating a bad part fit.
Also treated me with a bright LED sofitte bulb for the trunk dome light. I love it. Day was a success.

.
Bulge or Blister. Could someone have skimmed a lateral surface? What is the age (DOT Date) of the tire? Lots of tread but rubber looks weathered. Some older Falken had weak sidewalls.
. .

Oh, I know the cause. She keeps nailing potholes. Both tires had 2023 build dates and were on the car for about a year, at most.
That's dirt you see, not weathering.

Had a loud speed related rotational noise, which i'm quite sure was a CV joint.
I wasnt financially ready to get a proper quality new shaft so went for a 25€ Meyle CV, installed on the shaft that was originally on the car (also removed because cv was tired). Quality seems ok, the boot rubber thickness seemed similar to OE. Time will tell, wont be surprised if it fails within two years but one can hope !

During my test drive I thought I had f'd up something, but no, turns out one of the rear spring perch got loose and I couldn't hear it under normal driving conditions since i'm always listening to some music

Glad i kept the bypass wire in the carGoupil wrote: ↑16 May 2025, 15:43Yeah, I need to do it before the spare I installed inevitably failsChuck W wrote: ↑15 May 2025, 12:00I have 2 in the garage (Dr and Ps) that probably came out of my old '96 GLT. Not sure how to dispose of them, and I'm not up for a hurtful prank on anyone. I actually pondered swapping the Ds one into her car recently as I chased down the SRS code.
@Goupil Are you able to "refresh" that FP relay?![]()
