Another 850 ECC question...

Hi guys! Greetings from New Zealand!! I am the proud owner of a '94 850 Turbo! Teal Green with 229000km on the clock. I have one fault code on my ECC. 221- Pasanger damer motor position sensor open circuit or shorted to 12V. The question is: Where is the sensor? Is it inside the motor? I also suppose that pasanger side refers to Left hand drive vehicles, wich would be driver side over here? I removed the drivers side motor and all seems good. The shaft is ok. But my fan doesnt work at all? Will it work if the sensor is sorted out, or are there more problems? Only the one code, and it doesnt clear. Thanks. Stanley

Would anybody know if there are other model Volvo's that use the same damper motors? Maybe 960's? Thanks

The ECC units are set up according to the driver's position, so it's left on LHD cars and right on RHD cars...your passenger motor would be the left side. The sensor is internal to the motor, if it is indeed a short to 12V, consider the motor unit dead. The damper motor itself, part number 9142629, can be found on '93-97 850s and '98-00 S/V/C70 vehicles.

Awesome! Thanks for that mate! Does the fan stop working in a condition like that? Or do I have more problems? Allthough no other fault codes are present? Thanks again. Stan
