Not too hateful at all!

That mold will clean up nicely and thst leather will shine with some CONNOLLY’s applied

The back axle drop and suspension stuff is covered in a heavy thread by our friend scot850 up in Alberta. I’ll link to that thread

I'm curious. Being an R, I would have expected a duel muffler at the rear, not a single one. Was 2000 the only year with dual mufflers?

We would have to look at the Vin# for sure, as I have never seen a R in that Red. The only red I have seen is the dark metallic red. So I went looking and Googled 1999 V70R and found this car:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-volvo-v70r-5/

It has only a single exhaust tip like the V70XC on the RHS at the rear. Even looks like the same wheels.

It will be an interesting challenge.

Just about an hour ago my ex-Volvo mechanic friend sent me a link to FBM for a 2000 V70 needing rescued. Never again! Doesn't help it is missing the driveshaft and may have other AWD issues including the trans/angle gear. Prop-shaft is out so the bigger issue is does it have the prop-shaft center bearing support. That is beyond unicorn status now.

Doesn't help it is also black (I hate black cars), and has 'some' hail damage.

Edit. Rechecked the ad on my PC not the cellphone. Discovered it is a Dark Blue. They were sold in Nautic Blue in 2000, but this does not look like Nautic Blue. Also mileage is 200000+ miles.

I had never noticed before that, on the AWD model, the gas tank fill door is on the same side of the car as the exhaust pipe :o
I kind of thought that was a no no..... At least it is for other cars.

Who would just leave a decent R wagon out in a field? Unless it quit and they didn't have the money to pay to fix it.

I have a bulletin for you: that won't pass a "beat" on here. It looks better than 75% of my fleet just sitting on the trailer.

P80 AWD and Rs have that wierd dual exhaust with a single tail pipe. Pep boys actually has a decent aftermarket one. It loops over the left axle to the left muffler, then has a crossover to the right muffler to the tailpipe. Putting the tailpipe on the passenger side evens out thrust on the track when there is no passenger in the car, for a 3 HP gain, per bdub.

Ok, I made that up.

Added context to title, because we do that here.

Here is a picture from before being drug out of its hole
Image

It's a little thing but managed to replace the rear lift gate shocks so the gate would quit hitting my head when getting in the back. Should make cleaning it up easier. Lots of mud dauber nests in the back and under the trim I needed to remove for the shocks. There is a fair amount of rattling under the rear trim on the gate so I imagine it is full too. So far zero mouse droppings inside, there were plenty under the hood but not in the car itself....so far .Does that carpeted trim on the gate just pop off or are there hidden screws? TIA

My family thinks I am crazy and do not understand my fascination with this car at all. I thought it looked pretty exceptional for sitting in the muck since 2013. It certainly has its challenges though so I am not blinded by the work it will take to bring it back.
