PCV upper hose to side of engine

Greetings all,

I have done lots of work to my '98 T5 auto over the last few months, but am now perplexed.
The upper stout hose on the side of the breather unit to the PCV is seeping oil where it connects to the engine. Am getting small puddles of oil below the hose along the ridge where the starter bracket is connected. Upon first inspection the clamp looked to be loose, so I tightened that. Then after a trial run, there was more oil seepage in the samed area as before. When I removed the breather unit, I discovered that the hose had cracked just before the area where the clamped is located. This was no small crack - almost half the hose had cracked, thus creating the seepage of oil.
I replaced that hose and ran the car a good 20 minutes or so driving locally, and when I looked under the manifold, to my surprise, there was more oil again accumulating in small puddles.
So, is this a symptom of a larger issue and/or what could be causing the oil to seep at this location?

That whole side of the engine might be a bit drenched in oil ftom that hose splitting, are you getting leftover oil perhaps?

I wish that were the case, but after the first discovery, I wiped off most of the oil. Then wiped off the oil again after the second discovery. Now, there seems to be a large gap between the end of the hose and the engine wall, plus more oil pooling in the cavities of the engine wall below to the right and left of the hose. I was careful about making sure there was no gap and tightened the clamp really well or so I thought. Seems like there's enough pressure to push the hose out/away from where it attaches to the engine. Not sure what to do next!
