Hi,

I own a 1994 Volvo 850, which has a b5252s engine in it. Recently it has been smoking a little and I have narrowed it down to the valve stem seals needing to be replaced. I was looking in IPD for a VRS kit and came across this Head Gasket Set, (https://www.ipdusa.com/products/23920/H ... ING-498751) which is said to be suited for a b5254fs engine. Was wondering if anyone would know if I would run into any problems using this kit in my car?

Thanks

It is so much Labour to do stem seals that most of us here won’t use anything non-Volvo

I have a b5252s engine 5 cylinder 10 valve...and i was told they don't match, the 5254fs engines are 20 valve? talk to fcp euro tech support and felt really bad that they don't have anything for b5252s inside the engine.....

Although we had 10V cars here in Canada, they are few and far between. Might be better looking to Europe for parts there. Try GCP.se who bought all Volvos older parts. They are OE Volvo parts, but they have started to get some stuff remanufactured in the last couple of years. Volvo even lists their parts on their online websites as 'GCP......'

Skandix is another option, but their shipping rate to US and Canada is a flat rate $110!!

The one snake oil in a can I will use from time to time is ATP-AT-205. You could try it for the valve stem seals until you get set up to change them. E.g. viewtopic.php?t=75466

I got recommended atp-205 here.

Tried it and after 2000km it started working. It used 1l on 1000km and now it halved to 0.5l per 1000km.

I did bought all the parts for the valve stem job, but I’ve postponed it for now, since the additive is kind of working.
