Just had my V70 over to my local mechanic for a few things and asked him to re-adjust my headlight beams as the car was in a minor front end fender bender earlier this year. The body shop said they realigned the beams but apparently, they lied as the adjuster part of the headlamp was broken. My mechanic told me I will need a whole new headlamp assembly. Is this true or is the adjuster part separate from the whole assembly?

Thank you!

How do I add a PP slide here? To show what I think are the only two adjusters.

Can you post a picture? If you go to Full Editor & Preview below the reply box, below the script add box there is a notation that says ADD. Click on that and it allows you to add photos. When you add the photo it will give you the option to add the photo into a line. Click on your post where you want to add it then click on the add to line.

I'm not sure what the mechanic is saying is broken. There are 2 options for adjustment. One on the top that when new was accessed by a tube from the top. However, you have to break that off to replace the headlight bulbs. I don't have the 01-04 headlights to be able to take photos and post.

I think I figured out why the mechanic did not want to align my headlamp. The upper plastic hex is stripped. No six sides anymore.
I guess I can use some pliers to grab on to it rather than replacing the whole headlamp assy.

Been there done that with my previous 2004 V70.

The only solution is a short piece rubber hose.
Feel the swivel (up and down) that holds the reflector unit then you understand how it works.

Wedge a rubber hose at the bottom so it does not droop down.

You may need a rubber hose on the top too. Just find the appropriate sizes to fit.

Those headlights look very clean. Are those the ones from your car? If so are they aftermarket?

Just as a side bar, here is a seemingly nice LED conversion kit for the standard H7 halogen bulb. My only concern would be that my headlamp bulbs are always on even in the daytime and they would overheat.
